Examples of Social Media applications are Google Groups (reference, social networking), Wikipedia (reference), MySpace (social networking), Facebook (social networking), Last.fm (personal music), YouTube (social networking and video sharing), Second Life (virtual reality), Flickr (photo sharing), Twitter (social networking and microblogging) and other microblogs such as Jaiku and Pownce. Social networks enable you to post videos, articles, podcasts, Blogs, bookmarks, links, profiles and comments. It's extremely easy to share your message or marketing information via the use of these social websites. Content is however still king and your message needs to be of interest to the readers in order to spread it around.
If your ready, here is the article
Anybody can make money by using Twitter. You will need only three things to do this – a Twitter account (which is free), your own website or another way to monetize your Twitter account, such as affiliate links systems, and a knowledge of social networking channel marketing.
The initial stages of this procedure are relatively simple; it becomes more difficult when it comes to having the knowledge needed for effective social network marketing. Below are some things you should remember…
- Get to know your audience
Although it is common to see, you should not just post links in your status update box. It is true that this is a form of advertising, but it is certainly not as effective as verbally selling a product to potential customers.
If you want to efficiently market or sell products through using social networking channels such as Twitter, you need to first build up a network of people who know you and trust you, only then will they feel comfortable about purchasing good through you.
- Market products or services that your followers need
If you market a product that your audience do not need or want, then they will not buy it. It is as simple as that. Make sure you know what you are selling and that the potential customers will want to buy it. Research is key.
The easiest way to research what your audience want is to ask them! Find out what product or services they want, then find the products or services to meet their needs.
- Choose quality over quantity
It is not difficult to get thousands of followers on Twitter. In fact, if you have use certain tools and scripts then you could probably get a few hundred Twitter followers in just a few hours. However, marketing through Twitter is not a numbers game. You are much better to have 10 followers who you have a real relationship with than 100 followers who you have no relationship with.
Why? Because those who you do not have a real relationship will not really take that much, if any, notice of your tweets. So, instead of working solely to boost your follower count, work on interacting with your existing followers.
By following the above guidelines you can join the many, many other people who are making money on Twitter right now. You will probably not make any money for at least a few weeks, but within a month, if you do things properly, you should see some money coming in. Within a few months, you should be earning enough to pay for your vacations, and within a year you may well be earning enough to give up your full-time job.
